ME170: Computer-Aided Design
MCAD & Concept-to-Customer Design
Kinematics, Dynamics & Mechanism Design

Mechanical Design I focused on the kinematics and dynamics of machinery with user-centered design, analytical and computer-aided design of kinematics, dynamic force analysis, and cam and gear design. Completed two major design projects: (1) a soccer-themed automaton toy designed to evoke emotion in athletes through mechanical movement, and (2) a slope-climbing robot required to ascend a 30-degree grass hill without driving wheels. The robot required synthesis of a walking linkage tuned for uneven terrain, questionable traction, and limited motor power. Both projects combined analytical design with hands-on fabrication and testing.
